Meet the Creative Team Behind The Magnificent Revengers.
Matt Cox is a playwright, actor, improviser, sound designer, and former comic book retail associate based in New York City. His play Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years At A Certain School Of Magic & Magic (2016 Off-Broadway Alliance Best Theatrical Experience Nominee) began as a small show made by friends at a small comedy venue, the Peoples Improv Theater. It has since broken records Off-Broadway in New York, was screened in movie theaters across the country with Fathom Events, and its production in Melbourne, Australia is Melbourne's longest running play of the century. His other work includes Happy Little Trees: A Bobyssey, Cool Chefs Jr., The Madness of Captain Dread, and the four-hour geek epic Kapow-i GoGo (along with its spinoffs: The Kapow-i GoGo Holiday Special & I Am Mr. Snuggles.) He authored the radio play El Hombre Bovino for WNYC's The Greene Space, and was a contributing writer to The Flea Theater's The Mysteries. His work has been produced Off-Broadway at New World Stages and The Elektra Theater; Off-Off-Broadway at The Tank, and The Flea Theater; three blocks from Broadway at The Peoples Improv Theater, and much further from Broadway at the Alex Theater in Melbourne, Australia. He studied theatre at Tarleton State University. He is working on a novel about an Orc.
Kristin McCarthy Parker is the director of Matt Cox’s Puffs (Off-Broadway at New World Stages). Other projects with Cox include Kapow-i GoGo and The Magnificent Revengers (upcoming). She is also the director and co-founder of Recent Cutbacks, whose work includes the critically-acclaimed comedies Hold On To Your Butts (Time Out NY Top 10 Comedy of the Year), Fly You Fools, and KEVIN!!!!!. Recent Cutbacks has developed and performed work at The Second City Training Center, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and is currently writing an audiobook for Audible Originals. She has also directed and developed work at Primary Stages, Pittsburgh CLO Spark Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Town Stages (Sokoloff Arts Creative Fellowship), All For One, Ma-Yi, The Amoralists, 59E59, The Flea, Sam French OOB Festival, HERE Arts, Columbia University, Rutgers University, and the University of Florida, among others. Stephen Stout is the Director of Development and Production at The Peoples Improv Theater, having previously served as Artistic Director. He co-produced the original sold out, downtown run of Matt Cox's Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic at The PIT, and serves as an associate producer on its subsequent runs at The Elektra Theater and now, New World Stages. He co-created and produced the sold out, late night hit #serials@theflea at The Flea Theater, featuring new work by a score of playwrights, directors and actors who have subsequently gone on to Broadway, Off-Broadway, HBO, Netflix, studio and independent features and across all rungs of show business. He also served as then Flea Artistic Director Jim Simpson's assistant on the NEA grant award winning video game adaptation of Anne Carson's Krapp Hour, starring Alan Rickman. Other NYC producing: Kapow-i GoGo (The PIT). He ran the New York wing of The Old Vic Theatre's Old Vic New Voices and produced programming at 3LD, Soho House, Space on Ryder Farm, The Vineyard, The Public and The Old Vic itself. Colin Waitt is an Associate Producer at Tilted Windmills Theatricals. He co-produced the original run of Puffs at The Peoples Improv Theater with Stephen Stout and is an Associate Producer on its record-breaking run off-Broadway. Select producing credits include SERIALS (The Flea), Kapow-i GoGo (The PIT), Stupid Face (The PIT), and being an Associate Producer on Our House in Concert (The Savoy, London, dir. Matthew Warchus).
